Nicheletter - environment and sustainability
Nicheletter is a newsletter about niches. Who would say ;) It’s not telling you what and how to do, it is rather a collection of things to inspire smart people to build businesses in niches.

We see an increased REAL focus on the environment and sustainability.
The fight against global warming will be fought by people and small businesses. (Maybe) with the support of governments and big corporations. Every one of us will have to take their tiny little part in getting the things back where we can keep our planet habitable for ourselves and the coming generation.
These new materials and food might be expensive today, but as with anything, the price will gradually decrease. Maybe you can use them as a part of your marketing strategy, people love new things.
Today's nicheletter might sound futuristic, but all these things are already existing in labs and garages. Be the first to use them and create your own niche and brand.
Materials
Artificial spider silk, carbon nanotubes, metamaterials, amorphous metal, metal foam, aerogel, graphene, transparent alumina, vegan cactus leather... The list goes on. They will require fewer resources, less energy to produce and to use them. They will be easily reusable or recyclable.
Food
The food we eat today is made by nature. With a little bit of (usually harmful) help of us humans. Animals and grains are the core sources for most of the world's population. Food is a combination of what we see, smell and taste. Loads of companies are working on alternatives while keeping the same smell and taste. Labs grown meat, meatless meat, eggless mayo, protein made from air. Humans are taking a much bigger part of making food.
Reuse
Secondhand fashion is expected to triple in the next 10 years. Thrift stores, resale platforms supported by influencers change our relationship with the things we use every day. We throw away loads of things as we built a system in which things simply disappear. There's a bin in front of our house and somebody takes care of it. Somebody burns it, throws it into a big hole or into rivers and oceans instead of us. Reuse is one of the options for how to serve a niche.
People buying less stuff but supporting people they like
We are getting from telling a big brand what shoes and clothes we need for what (cheap) price to finding people we like and buying shoes and clothes from them. This is a conscious shift from having loads of "uniform" clothes to have something special from a person that means something to us.
3D printing will allow small manufacturers to produce their goods. And having a 3D printer in a 15-minute distance will allow us to buy files of products and let them print out. We see huge improvements in 3D printing technology. It's a huge opportunity.
