Welcome to the fifth nicheletter. You are smart and curious, I’m not going to tell you what and how to do. These are rather a couple of things that might make you think about your (future) niche. Thank you for spending your time reading my newsletter.
Niche + IoT
Future of IoT devices
The estimates predict there will be 75 billion IoT devices by 2025. Cities are becoming smart. We will be able to collect a huge amount of data in various niches. Whether it’s transporting, sharing economy, quality of urban life there will be hundreds of interesting niches for these devices. Price is decreasing, battery/energy technology is improving. Every single industry and service will benefit from these devices and the data they provide.
Office
Covid or not, we are heading towards working the bigger part of the week/month from home. The way how we use our homes and office spaces to work is rapidly changing. Security, productivity, the well-being of employees from wherever they work will always be a high priority.
Location services
5G is here + 95% of purchases will be made online by 2040. Every physical product will be super precisely trackable from the production plant to everyday usage.
AI + IoT
All the data coming from IoT devices have to make sense. AI is our tool to make that data usable for everyday decisions of people and brands. The ability to collect and make this data usable will open many new niches.
Transportation and mobility
Driverless cars, personal VTOL, last-mile shared transportation. These new ways of transport will have to depart, make stops for pickups and arrive somewhere.
Security and privacy issues
With the increasing amount of data collected by IoT, we will see increased security and privacy concerns.
Children
Toys, autonomous transportation, education… An endless list of things and activities that will look very different compared to what we are used in the present. IoT devices will help parents in taking care of their children in rather different ways.
Pets and urban agro
The needs of our pets and plants will be translated into data. This data will be used either to achieve longevity, the quality of life or yield increase.
Businesses
Every industry will use IoT in a different way to fulfil their data needs. If you know your industry, you know these needs and pain points. Add IoT and you’ll be able to come up with solutions won’t be possible even months ago.
